When it comes to product reviews, here at yogawithkit.com we take them very seriously. All the items we review are thoroughly inspected. From everyday use to the cold hard facts. We don’t play around when it comes to our reviews. We only play around ON the mats. You can trust that these reviews are fully honest, non-biased, and 100% transparent. Now that, that’s out of the way- Let’s do this!

In 2019, I began searching for a more sustainable yoga mat. Something made with better materials, non-slip, and cushiony (I’m also a runner, and I need extra padding for me knees) So I started my research and stumbled upon this article. Many brands stood out to me from the list, but the one that caught my eye the most was Yoloha. From there, I started diving into the brand. Finding out where they are from, how they make the mats, what they are made out of, etc.

The first mat I purchased from Yoloha was the Nomad original Cork mat, which I love and still sometimes use. So when I was on the look out for another mat, I knew exactly where to get it from- Yoloha of course!

Full disclosure, after loving my first mat, I started posting with my mat on social media and tagging Yoloha in the posted and eventually they sent me a message asking me to be apart of their Ambassadors Program, which I accepted. Currently, I am an Ambassador for them, but they did not and have not sponsored me to make posts, write this blog, or create a Youtube video.

Today, we will be reviewing the Aura Yoga Cork + Plant Foam with the design Mountain Magic by Annie Riker and Yoloha.

Yoloha Aura Cork Yoga Mat Mountain Magic by Annie Riker

So what can you expect from this mat?

The specs:

  • Top side: High-quality, eco-conscious cork provides a non-slip surface. Cork naturally contains zero PVC’s or harmful chemicals.

  • Bottom side: Comfortable, Plant based foam, 6mm thick, closed cell, slip-resistant foam, which upholds our eco-conscious values – Free of PVC, plasticizers, and latex.

  • Density: Medium

  • Portability: Excellent

  • Specifications: 72″ x 26″, 80″ x 26″ | 6mm thick | 2.8 lbs. | 5 in. diameter rolled

(This information was collected from their website.)

It’s well-made and comfortable: Ever been in Low Crescent Lunge and think to yourself, I need a little more padding here… Me too!

Since changing to the Aura Cork Mat I have not once thought those words. The plant foam creates a soft, cushiony, springy bedding for the top layer of cork material which creates a cloud-like experience. This mat is ideal for anyone needing extra padding. I.e. people dealing with arthritis, knee issues/injuries, and joint pain. If you’re worried about the cork material flaking off- no need to fret! Of the three mats I have from Yoloha, not one of them has become damaged or began flaking. Also, there's no grainy feeling on your hands and/or feet while practicing. So that's a win-win!

Grip, no Slip!

Wow, wow, wow! The grip on this mat is amazing! If you're a high powered, breaking a sweat every time you're on the mat- hot yogi fanatic- then you're going to LOVE this mat. For me, I’ve had a great experience with the traction I’m able to get from the mat, and I’ve found that there is no sliding. I say for me, because there are a few people that I have talked to about Cork mats or who have tried cork mats in the past that say they aren’t able to get a good grip on cork mats and they slip n' slide. Below I have included some Amazon Reviews that explain this happening to them. It's possible this mat isn’t perfect for everyone, and that's okay. Personally, I've enjoyed using the mat thus far.

Have you used a Cork Mat before?

  • Yes, and I have one!

  • Yes, only one or two times.

  • No, but I'm interested in trying one out.

  • No, I was just curious about this mat.

Sustainability: This is their most sustainable mat on the market. According to the Yoloha website, 55% of the Plant Foam is made from sugarcane, and the cork surface is made from 70% renewable materials. This is great news for all the yogis/yoginis out there that are looking for a mat that is not only slip-proof and comfortable but it is also sustainable. How much does it cost?

Without shipping, the mat cost $129.00. If you spend over $150 on the website you get free shipping and there is also a Free 60 Day return policy. Below, I included my receipt of purchase- like I mentioned earlier, I am an ambassador for this brand so I used my discount code at checkout. If you would like to use it, here is the link. Also, when I purchased my mat there was a sale going on. They have sales pretty often, so if you aren't in rush- I'd recommend waiting for one.

For all those living outside of the US, here is a link to shipping information. I live in Barcelona, Spain- so the first two mats I bought from them I shipped them overseas, and the IVA (our taxes here) was kinda ridiculous... I can’t recall the exact amount now, but it was around 30 to 40 euros more. So keep that in mind if you are shipping it abroad. For my most recent order, I shipped it to my Mom & Dad’s home in the US, and picked it up when I was visiting them last. Would I still recommend it to people who live outside of the US? Honestly, I would and I have! I wouldn’t use it AND be a repeat buyer if not.

For the juicy part! What are the people saying?

Listed below are a variety of this mat's Amazon Reviews. I included a range of opinions, because everyones' bodies are different and what works for one of us might not work for another.

The verdict is in!

Whether you’re looking for more cushion and padding, doing hot yoga, or just getting your stretch on at home, this mat is a game changer. It’s sustainable, eco-friendly, light weight, springy, and easy to maintain.

The Aura Yoga Cork + Plant Foam has this yogini’s seal of approval!
